Hiring activity in Arizona’s largest metro area rose to a 12-year high in November. Phoenix added just under 87,000 jobs in year-ending November 2018, the largest annual gain since August 2006, according to the latest data available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. A handful of sectors have majorly contributed to the recent surge in employment. The Professional and Business Services and Mining, Logging and Construction sectors saw the most jobs gained, contributing 23% and 20% of the metro’s total gains, respectively.
