Jim Costello

Senior Vice President, Real Capital Analytics

Jim Costello, an industry expert who has worked on urban economics in the commercial real estate (CRE) space since 1990, is expanding the capabilities of the Real Capital Analytics team on issues of real estate market dynamics,. During a 20-year stint at Torto Wheaton Research, he expanded the reach of the Torto Wheaton Research team developing forecasts of global market fundamentals. He also developed approaches to pair the forecast results with frameworks to answer investor questions on asset values and relative investment opportunities. In the aftermath of the 2008-2009 Global Financial Crisis, Jim provided advice to the Treasury Department and helped educate these professionals on commercial real estate (CRE) performance. Jim is a member of the Commercial Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Administration, where he helps policymakers understand the CRE industry. Jim has a master’s degree in economics and is a member of the Counselors of Real Estate.

Jay Parsons serves as VP, Head of Economics & Industry Principals for RealPage. He is a frequent author and speaker on topics including rental housing investment and asset management strategy, rental housing policy issues, risk management and property management – covering apartments and single-family rentals. Jay has been cited in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and CNBC, among other outlets. His commentaries have been published by the Pension Real Estate Association, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Apartment Association, American Banker and GlobeSt.

Carl Whitaker

Director of Research & Analysis, Market Analytics, RealPage, Inc.

Carl Whitaker is a Real Estate Economist with RealPage’s Data Analytics division. At RealPage, Carl has specialized in creating industry presentations, market and submarket trend reports and crafting ways in which data can be more easily consumed and leveraged by clients. Carl holds degrees from the University of North Texas, including a Master of Science in Applied Geography.
