Seattle is experiencing its best annual job gains in two decades. In the year-ending August 2018, almost 67,000 jobs were created in the Emerald City area. Since 2012, the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett metro division had averaged about 46,000 jobs created annually, but gains have spiked in the last two months. Driving this growth are a handful of employment sectors: Manufacturing; Information; Trade, Transportation and Utilities; and Professional and Business Services. Particularly, aerospace manufacturing (Boeing), software publishers and computer systems designs (Microsoft), and retail trade (Amazon) are rebounding or expanding.
