Screen Shots

To send a screen shot, you will need to capture a graphical image of the screen to a file. You can then upload the file.

You may find it helpful to print this instruction page so it is handy as you follow the steps.

These steps presume you are using Windows XP. Other versions of Windows will be similar, if not exact.

    Capture the screen...

  1. Bring the window you want to capture to the top (not covered by any other window)
  2. Hold down the ALT key and click the PRINT SCREEN or PRNT-SCRN button (while you are holding down ALT)

A copy of the topmost window is now in the system clipboard. From here, we need to get the clipboard into a file for uploading.

Save the screen to a file...

  3. Click START
  4. Click PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS
  5. Click ACCESSORIES
  6. Click PAINT
  7. The Paint program accessory opens
  8. Click Paint's EDIT menu
  9. Click PASTE (If Paint asks if it is okay to resize the image, click OK or YES)

The upper left part of your screen or desktop will appear. If you wish, you may scroll the window to make sure the correct window was pasted into Paint.)

  10. Click Paint's FILE menu
  11. Click SAVE or SAVE AS
  12. Save the image as a BMP in a location you can find easily--
    • For SAVE IN, move up to the DESKTOP
    • For FILE NAME, use your name as the file name
    • For SAVE AS TYPE, select any of the bitmap types. The default type is fine.
    • Click SAVE

    Upload the image to RealPage...

  13. Return to the window asking for your file upload
  14. Click BROWSE
  15. Find the file (probably called your name, probably located on the desktop)
  16. Click OK or ATTACH
  17. Submit the form
