LeasingDesk Screening Customers
HUD Issues Notice H 2009-11
You may have heard about the recent notice requiring a sex offender screen for every applicant seeking housing assistance (HUD Issues Notice H 2009-11). A national criminal background check is required to determine if an applicant, or a member of the applicant’s household, is a registered sex offender.
The notice recommends the use of the National Sex Offender web site www.nsopw.gov to determine if applicants and/or tenants are lifetime registered sex offenders under a state sex offender registration program. RealPage would like to affirm that the LeasingDesk Screening product includes state sex offender registries as a component of the standard "follow-me" screening search, as well as our enhanced national sex offender registry search.
To ensure that your screening settings will include a comprehensive check for sex offender offenses:
- Verify that sex offender registries are selected as a component of your scoring model (check the use/must pass box)
- Set the criminal time filters associated with the sex offender criminal settings to "All records."
If you have any questions or would like more information on the enhanced national sex offender search, please contact your sales representative or e-mail clientcare@realpage.com.
